About Toy Run

The Nevada County Food & Toy Run is both a "non-profit charitable" organization and an event.

In 1991 four motorcyclists thought about what they could do to help families in need during the upcoming holiday season. They came up with an interesting idea and within a few weeks created an event. The event drew 90 bikers and a responsive cord was struck in merchants, law-enforcement personnel, and the residents in the small sierra-foothill communities of Nevada City and Grass Valley. The event was the birth of the Nevada County Food & Toy Run, a "non-profit charitable" organization sponsoring fundraiser's to help families in need.

Every second Saturday in December for the last 12 years hundreds of motorcyclists rumble through the towns of Nevada City and Grass Valley on the way to the Nevada County Fairgrounds where hundreds of children and adults await in anticipation of their arrival.

Needy families receive a Christmas turkey, 10 lb. bag of potatoes and canned goods to take home for the Holidays. Each child receives at least 3 toys and everyone celebrates with live music, food and raffle prizes in a vivacious atmosphere.

The upcoming Nevada County Food & Toy Run could easily see over 1000 bikes participating in the escorted procession from Nevada City Rood Center to the Grass Valley Fairgrounds.
